Shipsim Domain
« on: January 03, 2012, 19:33:49 »

Hello,

Does anyone find it strange that we're registering our license key on a site with no domain name? As in... "http://80.95.161.114"

Just a thought... maybe buy a certificate so the webpage doesn't look like it's running off of someone's home server... oh wait, maybe it is?

Ealry it was forum.shipsim.com, then after some "forum maintenance" followed by some difficulties it became those wacky numbers etc.

Theres stories of how the forum got an IP address, as aposed to a DNS address. but, to be quite honest, the forum still works like its suppost to.
Like capt cadet said, you can still log on to http://forum.shipsim.com/ However, on login you will be redirected to the IP.

Yup I see it works. It's just a concern when it comes to spoofing server IP but you're right , the forums.shipsim does work and that is reassuring.

That's not exactly what's happening though... Instead the programs/people just made accounts which would then post spam on any of the boards.

There seems to be a new captcha in place to prevent the Bot spammers so hardly any get through now
