Happy belated holidays, everyone. I'm surprised the Cookie Box is so empty.

Not to sound cliched, but what a long, strange, trip it's been.

Do you mean the game? It's called TETRIS... The aim of this game is to fill all the boxes of a line and then you gain points. The player above would take a number of points but......

I woke up this morning and I heard on the news that Norman Atlantic was/is on fire on the way to Ancona... I haven't found any article in english about this accident so I'll try to explain it... The fire started at 4:00 am, 45m away from Corfu. 467 passengers were onboard... At 8:00 am SPIRIT OF PIRAEUS, a cargo ship, arrived at the location of the accident in order to rescue some passengers who had jumped into the sea. At 9:15 am Cruise Europa arrived at the location of the accident in order to help. Each and every car at the outdoor garage of the ship has completelly been destroyed. I read somewhere that the rescue boats of Norman Atlantic couldn't be deployed for some reason but I don't know if that's true. I'll try to keep you up-to-date for further news. I should say that the ship was bought by ANEK LINES almost 10 days ago  :-\

Update 11:00 am: The ship is probably still on fire and some passengers are on the decks and cannot leave the ship... The cause of the fire may be a truck in the garage. The wind becomes stronger and stronger.

Update 11:25 am: Passengers may be more :(

Update 11:30 am: A tug is sailing towards the location of the accident in order to tow the ship to the nearest port.

Update 12:15 pm: Reascue boats have been deployed by Cruise Europa but they cannot approach Norman Atlantic beacause of the extreme weather conditions.

Update 12:20 pm: Almost 150 people are in safety now.

How many were on board? 400+?
I read something about a people claiming their shoes were literally melting under the extreme heat. That sounds like a horrible experience

7 deaths, that's very tragic

However it does make me glad about the fact that the Captain was the last to leave the ship.

They actually say that almost 40 people are missing... However it is possible that some people may hadn't even been on the ship. I mean they hadn't travelled.  ???

If they were not on the ship they would not have been counted. By EU law they have to send in a manifest with everything on board. It is very expensive if you get this wrong and to get it out by 40 is really bad!
But it is really sad to see all these tragic events to happen
