Title: Ship Simulator 2008 Professional - work-in-progress
Post by: pjotr on August 04, 2008, 12:38:43
This video  (http://www.vimeo.com/1463732) shows some of the functionality of Ship Simulator 2008 Professional: the option to transmit data from the game to another software program like a navigation tool, or to an external navigation instrument.

This is done using the standard NMEA 0183 protocol, running on either a serial (RS232) connection, through ethernet, or through a simulated serial connection on the same PC.

In the video (http://www.vimeo.com/1463732), we run SS08Pro on a PC with two 30" high-resolution monitors (each at 2500x1600 pixels resolution). The left monitor runs SS08Pro, and the left monitors runs a chart navigation program, Coastal Explorer.

The result is that you can use SS08Pro as a teaching and training tool at maritime academies and nautical schools.

You can also use SS08Pro for a compelling and attractive exhibition stand.

More info and videos on SS08Pro will follow in August and September.
