Fredom 90's cockpit
« on: June 04, 2011, 11:25:03 »

I have been in Fredom 90's cockpit a couple of times in real life and realised that ship sim have made a mistake!
In real life Fredom 90 has a rudder bar controlled by your feet it does not have a steering wheel !! I had the privillege to go in the real cockpit because my grandad is a member of the hovercraft museum !!

Cheers

No, the real Freedom 90 doesn't have a steering wheel, only a  bar on the floor where your feet are used to steer...

It can be seen in Ralphy's pic here:

Most hovercraft are controlled by your feet other than some small ones EG the hoverhawk

As the others have already pointed out, I also had the privilage of blagging my way into the cockpit.

The reason why they put a steering wheel in is because some people prefer to play using their mouse, you can't really control foot pedals with a mouse now can you?

A little bit off topic...Do you know what the handle that is in this pic do? i've been wondering for aaaaaaaaages!!  ;D

Is it not a handle to control a searchlight?

Hmmm, a very reasonable explanation. But what about if they would want to to control the pitch of the light?

Overwise i would say you are right, there's still some doubt with it... ::)

... pitch is controlled by pushing and pulling the handle ...
