I know, trust me. :)
I'm a long time sufferer of tinnitus... And that's how loud mine is.
-
:p Smarty Pants. :D
-
Uhm... that wasn't really meant as a smartypants kind of reply, to be honest. :)
It's just what I hear at the moment, or better yet, all the time. Well.. apart from the rest of the 'outside world' obviously. But it's usually the loudest thing there. ;D
(dunno if you can 'estimate' 70dB, but the file below is what my brain makes me hear 24/7)
-
i hear dog barking ;D
-

Like wise Fred, people without it don't know what it is like.
I can't actually play that sound file, it says it is recorded with the wrong codecs!!
Mike
-
hmm, i hear get ringing sometimes in my ears too, and yea i can't play the sound file either. ;)
-
Like wise Fred, people without it don't know what it is like.
Very true, and I'm very happy for them too, I might add. I can live with it easily nowadays, although it took years and years to get used to without going nuts, but I wouldn't want anyone else to experience it. (So be carefull with loud music people, don't turn your iPods up too loud, etc!! The damage is irreversable!)
The file should be a standard .wav, I got it from the net. Weird. :-\
How bout this one below?
On a lighter note, and to stay on topic, what I am hearing now is the TV, Discovery Channel to be precise. "Survivor Man" is on (quite an interesting show). And of course a typing sound from the keyboard. :)
Fred
-
yea the one above works, and thats what i hear sometimes too :-\ anyway on topic. I hear mythbusters, clicking laptop, tv in living room, and parents talking. ;)

Fred
That one works, it's almost exactly the soud that I have had for the last 20 years!! Snap
Regards
Mike

Yeah, the ~4000 Hz one is quite common, specially with cases of hearing loss due to damage of the 'hairs' in the cochlea. Is that the case with you aswell?
-
I have assymetrical hearing loss, (worse in one ear) cause unknown but suspected loud noises in ships!
Back on topic, I can hear the cheers regarding a new F1 World Champion!!
-
That would do it. A lot of tinnitus with people that have been around or operated loud machinery and so on. For me it was way too loud Rock 'n Roll, in various bands I have played in in the past. Of course nowadays I am well protected when I play, but back when I was younger I had no idea.... Also "cause unknown' as far as the ENT doc is concerned, but I know it myself.
* Cheers for Lewis *
At this moment I am watching/listening to some stand up comedy. Billy Connolly at the moment.
Fred
