Yeah, since there isn't any new games on the way, and I'm just getting annoyed by all the bugs in the current game I haven't been here...  :P

The only reason for going here is basically the community, witch sadly is dieing.

Everyone's back! Well, not everyone. Oceandream, Wave Music, TractorMan, TFK, Gab, Redfox, Swenson, Mad Fred, and Ballast for starters.

Hey guys, good to see some old faces back.

I had a very interesting conversation today with a senior executive from the club which provided P&I insurance for Costa Concordia, some of the figures which she was talking about where more like telephone numbers than costs.

I think at this point, if VSTEP isn't making any profit, and no development time is being attributed to it, it should be turned to open source.

How this affects VSTEP's commercial side of the business however is another story, as I'd imagine the core basics of SS08 are similar to SSPro/NAUTIS.

I think Vstep have switched NAUTIS to use the same engine as SSE (albeit without the bugs). I don't think Vstep will release anything as "open source", infact I'm surprised they know what the words "open source" means.
I know that a bunch of people tried to get Vstep to add a ship into SS08 and Vstep said it would cost ~£20,000

I can't imagine that there can be a great deal of similarity between SSE / SS08 and NAUTIS, I have been playing on a professional bridge simulator all week and this thing has 100 high end PC's running it, Unless NAUTIS is designed to run on a single PC with a single monitor then it simply has to be a totally different framework.

NAUTIS is designed to be used on at least one computer and monitor.

SSE and SS08 were/are dumbed down versions of NAUTIS. Besides, NAUTIS only just scraped the lowest DNV classification for simulators, so it can't be overly complex...
