Imagine going to a footbal {american, of course} and shutting off the huge 75 foot jumbotrons!
That would be

Fortunately the newer version TV-B-GONEs have a reactivation switch  ;D

But I was watching a video of the French Video Game Convention.
And these three guys shut of over two hundred tvs!!  :o

Funny, but this I imagine would be a realy pain in the arse for the companies there. However, you'd think they'd wise up to it now.

It's easy to stop people using these devices too. Just cover the IRC sensor with some coloured card or a mirror. This way, the TV will know nothing of the data signal ;)

Yes I wouldnt imagine turning off hundreds of tvs at a convention!
All the ones i turn off i will turn back on again!

And your right, just put some black tape over the sensor and no problems!
I advise The ship sim team to do that next time they're at a convention  :P

Haha. Well it surprises me that all these huge companies haven't picked up on it. I mean there's TV's going off and on all day, and you're telling me that they've never heard of TV-BE-GONE?

Ohh well, I have the upper hand when I create my amazing game.... ;D

They know about it alright!  ;D

But theres not much they can do technology wise.
To turn the tvs on and off the average customer uses a remote control, and that is of course IR.

I'm not too sure there is an alternative

Good idea but if I was at a gaming convention and somebody put a brick through my TFT I would probably retaliate in the same fashion ;D
