I tried to change mine...but it gives me an error.

I take it you right click on the process and do it that way?

It will still lag if your card isn't up to the job (like mine ), but it will reduce the lag slightly and make it run a bit smoother. I noticed a difference anyway ::)

Well mine hasn't pasted itself all up my wall yet so ;D

I think this is what Frank or someone technical was saying about it being compatible on more than one core. SS08 could only use one core, as at the time, core 2 duo was only out if memory serves, so the technology wasn't there. In SSE, it has been designed to run on more than one core, as most people now days have more than one core, especially with these new iprocessors and what not.

Ahh...then yours must have automatically went to Affinity mode when you installed it.

You need to download software called FRAPS. Its used mainly for shooting vidoes or taking pictures, like print screen, only slightly better i think. I just use it for the FPS option.

CPU usage affinity is applied to the current questviewer processus instance, if you restart the game the settings are back to default. So writing "change CPU affinity in Task manager, then restart the game" won't change anything, as once restarted, the manual settings will have disappeared.

Moreover, by default, processus affinities are already set to use all the CPU/cores available, and a process will take the advantage of multicpu/core only if it has been written to do that. This function is useful if you want to force one processus to use one (or several, but not all) particular core...

I might be wrong (and you'll have to demonstrate it, if it's the case), but for me, changing CPU affinity is totally useless.

Hi Denis,

Quote from: Neo-ST on Today at 00:00:35
try setting the "affinity" of the process to all 4 cores, just right click on the process-set affinity

When i seen that, i went off to have a look. When I checked mine, it was only ticked to use one core, instead of using both of them (i have core 2 duo). When both were checked, i noticed a difference in my game play, that it was smoother and helped my FPS slightly.

I restarted the game and the affinity setting was still apllied to both cores. I have also had the computer turned off and turn on this morning, and both cores were still activiated.

But if I set afinnity for "questviewer.exe" then surely that affect ss2008 aswell?
As its the same process  ???
Then SS08 wouldn't work!

Im having a hunt around for a new machine, custom built. So far im only having trouble with motherboards and graphics cards :( I know nothing about motherboards, and i cant decide whats 'the best' card to go for

So far the one im getting custom built (in a dream world) is an i7 960 processor, 8GB RAM, 7 ultimate, card reader, 1TB Hard drive, Liquid Cooled, some sort of fantasic sound card but the name escapes me

Hopefully it would run SSE relatively smoothly ::)

Well at that price I'll take a dozen...

 ::)

How hard do you think it would be to get the developers to make a copy of Freedom 90, paint her white with a red bottom, and max the speed out on the new version to 60 knots?

And keep her in game along with the standard F90?

Name her Channel Swift, or just Swift...

Ahh the dreaded Top Gear line

I'd say extremely hard as they still have lots to finish in the game ;)

but how hard is it for the developers to change the colour?
