But, do you hotlink it from an image hosting site?

Because it's missing most of the url and only has the picture's name as adress. That's probably not enough unless you actually uploaded it to professor Stephen Hawking's brainstem..

So it would need something like http://www.photobucket.com/youralbum/nameofpicture.jpg

Not just http://nameofpicture

well if it is only on your laptop, then you cannot link it like that.

You have to upload it, for example on www.photobucket.com or www.tinypic.com

After uploading, they will provide you with several links/ways to use it.

You can then grab the IMG link and post it on a forum. And then they'll show up!
