Not to sound cliched, but what a long, strange, trip it's been.

By taxi from Cairo to Port Said is quiet a long drive! Why didn't they let you fly to Alex?

Any time I have joined or left a ship in Port Said I have always driven from/to Cairo, it is only a 3 hour drive and in this case it was only me in a fairly comfortable taxi rather than a bunch of us in a knackered old minibus.

This is actually the first time that I have done the journey in daylight and it is both much more interesting to be able to see the scenery and much more scarey to see the other Egyptian drivers.

And good morning, everyone.

Ah yeah, the wonders of the Egyptian roads...  We were driving on the Alex desert road between Alexandria and Cairo but the road is 10 lanes in total but in both outer lanes everything is allowed. It's like the inshore traffic zone  Driving against traffic, stopping while other cars rush by with 120 km/hr, we even spotted some small stands where people were selling their own grown vegetables  ;D
