Why is it I get the feeling this DLC might be in response to river simulator 2012...
Looks like excellent work Swenson, I'm anticipating the release, another SSE DLC release is just what we need.
River Simulator 2012 actually doesn't look half bad, and yes, I did just google that. ::)
But I'm sure the real question going through our heads is: Will it be free...?
Best regards,
Carter
Hi Carter,
You are not seriously suggesting that a Company which is in business will put in many hours of work and then not charge for it are you. If the Ship Simulator games are to survive, then money must be raised to fund the work involved. Surely you would not work for no wages would you. ??? There have been a couple of free DLC's I know, but in each case the work has been paid for from other sources and permission given to offer the results to our players.
Regards,
Traddles.
3 ships in a week, amazing Swenson. second that
wooden interior looks good and all in Rotterdam.
Another teaser tomorrow Swenson or release
Well, now it more lookslike a bougsier pack.
But, honestly, I hope that the pictures are from an early stage cause they do not look ready. Each instrument looks okay but it looks far from realistic. What you can do with the technology of today so does this looks like it comes from a 10 year old game. What is missing is the shadows, normaly should the light come from one direction and each instrument should throw some shadow, but that does not exist. The first two pictures Swenson have posted looks realy ugly, so I guess that is from a realy early state of creation.
If the finished part looks like this pictures so will few buy this add on I guess. But with some more months of work they could look great enough.
I do not know what you guys are used to, but I am used to game vehicles looks much more realistic.
Stunning..
4 teasers LOVE IT

Barges are fun. ;D You can never go wrong with a barge.
Any chance of some exteriour shots?

I have a wild guess about these teasers: I have noticed that they are all Rotterdam based; so what if Vstep is making DLC packs for each environment, featuring three new ships for those ports. Example:
Bora Bora:
Super yacht
tour ferry
sailing catamaran
This coming mystery barge looks amazing! :2thumbs: Can't wait to see more! ;DRivers and canals will open. So from Rotterdam to Poland the flow. Why not?
Nice Swenson! This is what the Franchise needs right now.
lol that is one of the funniest teasers i ever saw xD
a ship sailing by.. ;D
Awesome Shipsim, cannot wait.
PS; i hope there is more of these for the other ships
Mr. Robvilles' picture of the real vessel (above) shows how true to life that little video is.Traddles, here I do not agree with you at all. If you think this model look true to life, I think you need better glasses or exam your eyes, hehe. Or your expectations for what looks realistic is much lower than mine.
But that is my opinion, and if one person have an opinion he can not be sure that anyone will agree with him, but he can be 100% sure that there will be atleast one who will disagree, thats how we humans are.Amen to that.
it looks nice,
but my money isnt going to V-step until they come with a good update maybe then i will change my mind, im feeling (....) very hard I payed 30 euros for the game and 15 for the ferry DLC and the 3 CCC DLC's it looks good but the game sucks (too many bugs) it is 10 months later and still no update V-STEP SHOULD BE ASHAMED you pay for a beta and the game is (what I think) still a beta.

I do not like to be too negative but I can not realy belive this.
This has been said since the release of the game, the autumn 2010. So I belive this when I see that it is fixed. If a software is not fixed after more than two years after the release I have hard to think that it will ever be fixed.
Patience is a virtue
Doesn't it just! Been a while since the last update, the teaser clip should of said Spring 2013!
Well VSTEP is losing a lot of customers every day. I think. And when they don't give us more updates or information the will lose more and more... including me :). And thats sad, because it can be a great simulator if they care more about it. Just my opinion. ;D
No we don't, Its a inland pack.
I doubt V-step will include one.
99% of the time, if theirs a port/ harbour be it inland or on the coast, their is normaly a Harbour Master.
Good things come to those who wait.
Yeah, like old age?
Does someone at vstep have an obsession with barges & azimuth thrusters?Well the dutch have the biggest inland shipping fleet (Percentage) of the world..... so mayby that,,, and i would still love to see a map of an river, like in Holland
Does someone at vstep have an obsession with barges & azimuth thrusters? When the DV is released both of SSE's
...both of SSE's barges will be approximately the same size,I see barges sail by next to my school every day. Except some minor difference, the overall design is practically the same. Especially the size since these are fixed limit sizes within the regulations. A builder cannot simply say "let's build a 200 meter barge!"
Very interesting, how the barge bridge raises like that. I assume we can't raise it in the game version?Unfortunately not. :-\ There were some technical difficulties trying to make that work.
For an Inland DLC it's not that strange isn't it? barges. ::) There were many requests for these type of vessels. Again not strange considering that a decent amount of players are professional captains/sailors of inland vessels. I second mastermax' statement.I really need to work on how I phrase things... I wasn't complaining about the barge, I was complaining about both ships having azimuthing thrusters!
And it was never mentioned that Deo had an azimuth thruster. It uses a conventional propulsion system and does have a bow thruster. The bridge view screen shot you posted shows an azipod controller above the throttle/telegraph...

Especially the size since these are fixed limit sizes within the regulations. A builder cannot simply say "let's build a 200 meter barge!"Whilst I know there are restrictions regarding the size and shape of barges, and that there's only so much you can do to make each barge look "different", there are many other types of vessel which sail on inland waterways - some of which we don't have in game.
Unfortunately not. :-\ There were some technical difficulties trying to make that work.
@Danny
This type of ship has become very popular. Since VStep originally makes professional simulators it is not strange they just have an order to build a sim for it, and beside that the eventual contracters may have given permission to have their ship in the game as well.
I think the ship should be as real as possible, and if that inlcude azimuth it has to be that.
I think the professional side of VStep will always go before the game.
I don't think the real version of the ship has an azimithing thruster. Atleast, she doesn't have the symbol painted on her bow..Theres a symbol for thrusters!?!
Theres a symbol for thrusters!?!
Yes. The symbol on the right of the attached picture is a conventional tunnel thruster, and the one to the left is an azimuth thruster. That explains Danny!
She doesn't have any symbol painted on the bow. ;) Neither azimuth or conventional.
So, If she has no symbol there then she shouldn't have any form of thruster at the bow...symbol is only for seegoing vessel not for inland vessels

jomach
Ahh. Well, in that case... I take it back - I guess she can have whatever bow mounted assistance Vstep see fit, although I'd still prefer a tunnel thruster..Hi Danny I think the most modern inland vessel use this type, you can take it up and down and turn it 360 degrees its not a azimuth or fort schneider

So, If she has no symbol there then she shouldn't have any form of thruster at the bow...Just believe my word. I used accurate plans from the owner to create the 3D model, So there's no guesswork in these kinds of things.
Thanks for the link!
Deo features something like this:
It's a jet bow thruster.
It uses a set of tunnels as seen here on a similar type of ship:

So its something similar to a Gill Jet thruster? If it is a Jet-type thruster, you've still used the wrong controller :doh:Wel the thruster they used is the good one,, the ship i'm on right now has the same type for the same system, i can make a foto of it tomorrow
Also - And I'm probably going to draw a lot of flak for this - Given Vstep's track record when it comes to "trust" and "the truth" you can understand why some of us are a bit skeptical when it comes to trusting the things that Vstep or its representatives say...
But regardless of that fact, thank you for clearing up that issue regarding the thruster - now all you need to do is change the controller and everything will be grand! (Doesn't change the fact I'm unlikely to buy any of the upcoming DLC's, even if one of the new things is my favorite type of ship...)

Did you forget this post TFK? Mind you, seven months is a long time ago.
Hi mastermax10,
"danny" knows EVERYTHING about everything, even if it is proved to him he is wrong, he will always argue.
Angus.
@Mastermax10,
Much appreciated! I was hoping someone had a photo of it.
hi thanks mastermax its aproxly the same as the azi controller that we use from vstep :2thumbs:
I am a bit surprised that all of the controls seem to be 'sideways'.. ;)Full pull on the Rhine
The actual model of "Deo Favente" is so close to this it is quite remarkably realistic...
A question for you mastermax10. Does your vessel have twin screws? The main engine control would appear to show that she has.
As I understand it the two pictures show:- Top- starb'd side of helmsmans seat & bottom- Port side of helmsmans seat. You can see the helmsmans left arm in the lower picture. Both pictures are looking forward towards the bow. The actual model of "Deo Favente" is so close to this it is quite remarkably realistic, even to the similar woodwork around the consoles. The only difference I see is that the thruster control is behind the main engine control whereas "Deo Favente" is the other way round. A question for you mastermax10. Does your vessel have twin screws? The main engine control would appear to show that she has.Yes its a twin screw,, if you like i can make more picture's tomorrow,
Regards,
Angus.
I gamble on 2 propellors , but evenso it could have double or single waterjet propulsion.wel of all the inland ships in Europe i can say it's about 99% Screw propulsion,,, and the bigger one's like where i'm working on (longest on the Rhine :captain:) they only have screw's instead of Jet, the last years you see more of the Azimud propellors but the number of ships with that is limited.
I hope mastermax10 will reveal the secret :)

Here's some more information,, but its in Dutch :/ mayby you can translate it with google

The link is interesting. I understand why it has this flat square bow, the pictures gave the answer; These ships are in fact modified Hercules Atlas push boats, and the weled a barg to it to make it more economic.you can say modified Hercules Atlas push boats,, but these are normal ships with 2e the power of most pushboats,
Out of economic view and by its lenght a challenge to manouvre and sail with, but I do not like to give my opinion on its beauty, for I think it is plain ugly.
:D2
